On March 2nd, Cloud Nine College has introduced new program: “English for Academic Purposes (EAP)”
What is the EAP program?
This course prepares students for higher academic studies in English. Students will practice reading, writing, speaking, and listening in academic contexts using authentic texts and lectures from a range of disciplines as well as advanced grammar and vocabulary relevant to academic communication. The course also introduces students to study skills and citation styles that will be necessary specifically for the Canadian colleges and universities.
Students can take English for Academic Purposes at Cloud Nine College to prepare for the Canadian Colleges and Universities. Cloud Nine College has many pathway programs with Universities and other Colleges. In order for students to go through the pathways to other Universities and Colleges, they must meet the language requirements of the main study programs of the relevant Institutes by completing a language course, rather than taking recognized language tests such as “IELTS” .
Each week, students receive a score out of 100 based on the five assessment areas as described below. An average of the students’ final four weeks in the program will be used to assess their eligibility for graduation. Students who achieve an average of 75% will be considered to have completed an EAP 90 and will be eligible to enter EAP 100 while students who achieve an average of 85% will be considered to have completed EAP 100 and be eligible to begin regular courses at the chosen pathway institutions without having to write the English requirement tests.
