Introduction
We must work in order to survive. However, as a result of the work environment, an increasing number of people are quitting their jobs, and some even commit suicide. People dislike working when it results in this type of situation. This creates a vicious cycle because they are unable to live because they lack funds. Is there anything we can do to avoid this situation?
What are black companies?
Evil companies, or exploitative companies, are called black companies in Japanese. In general, companies that do not respect the rights and human rights of their employees and make them work in a terrible environment are called black companies. It is said that there are many of these in Japan, so it is necessary to find out (Goandup Picks, 2022).
Examples of black companies’ practices
- Harassment
- Low salaries
- Working long hours(Excessive overtime)
- No overtime pay
- Paid vacation is rarely used
- Less profit
- Short breaks
(Goandup Picks, 2022)
What causes people to quit their jobs because of their dissatisfaction?
- Bad human relationships
Japanese people spend most of their day at work. Therefore, deteriorating relationships make them feel unsatisfied (Half, 2019).
- Not evaluated
No matter how hard people work, if no one notices and appreciates their efforts, their motivation will drop (Tichy, 2022).
- Lack of work-life balance
Due to long working hours and overtime, the boundary between work and home disappears (Half, 2019).
- Low wages
If there is a disparity in compensation in the department to which we belong, or if we do not receive the expected salary, we will lose our value (Tichy, 2022).
- Does not feel rewarding
People believe that if they do not experience joy and a sense of accomplishment from their work, they are not contributing to it (Tichy, 2022).
- Lack of promotion and development opportunities
Professionals are constantly striving to improve their knowledge and skills, but when their jobs do not allow for skill development, they lose the opportunity for career advancement.
Furthermore, because there are no opportunities to advance to the top of the company, some people pass up opportunities to take on challenges and resign (Tichy, 2022).
What should be done to motivate employees?
When employees become stressed and unsatisfied with their work, they leave. In order to prevent it, we have to think of measures to increase the motivation of our employees. Here’s how, according to Hedley (2019):
- Clarify expectations
Bosses communicate and make sure employees understand what they want and what their end goals are. They can clarify expectations by helping employees understand what is and isn’t acceptable, what happens when they don’t get the results they want, and what rewards they get when they do.
- Providing Opportunities for Recognition and Praise
Many people leave the company because their boss doesn’t approve of their work. Bosses can motivate employees by regularly thanking them and praising them.
- Understanding the big picture
By understanding the overall picture of the company’s customers, projects, sales, and so on, it is possible to reconsider the company and create a comfortable working environment for employees.
- Providing a caring corporate attitude
Understanding employees’ goals, futures, families, and so on is critical, as is always caring about employees as contributors to the company’s success.
Conclusion
It is important to always care about employees and not make them feel stressed in order for people to be able to work in a good environment for a long time. Furthermore, we must gather information firmly so that we do not choose a shady company when looking for work. Many people will find their work rewarding and satisfied as a result of this.
