According to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO), Filipinos are among the most popular visitors to Taiwan because they do not skimp on their spending when traveling.
TECO Representative Peiyung Hsu invites more Filipinos to visit Taiwan and take advantage of its visa-free entry scheme amid eased protocols and the reopening of the border, as Taiwan has reinstated a 14-day visa-free program for Filipinos until July 31, 2023. Taiwan expects at least 300,000 Filipino visitors.
Many airlines have reopened routes between Taiwan and the Philippines, with at least 78 weekly flights, including chartered flights.
China Airlines and StarLux Airlines recently resumed their flights from Taipei to Cebu and vice versa, while EVA Air is set to launch a daily direct flight between Taipei and Clark starting on March 30.
Last month, AirAsia Philippines also restarted its Manila-Kaohsiung flights, catering to the rising demand for leisure travel.
Taiwan has been doubling its efforts to entice more Filipino tourists to visit and experience its culture, food, and natural wonders.
On Friday, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau also attended the three-day 30th Travel Tour Expo at the SMX Convention Center.
The Philippines had expressed its full support for the ASEAN’s efforts to improve accessibility among its member countries.
Christina Frasco, Secretary of Tourism, who represented the Philippines at the 26th ASEAN Tourism Ministers meeting in Indonesia, agreed to expand regional gateways. The tourism secretary stated that the Philippines would continue to increase its efforts to improve gateways in terms of system management, efficiency, and interior enhancements to better present the Filipino brand.
