Is The Internet a Credible Source?

What is the information age?

With the development of science and technology, it has become possible to produce and use various information, and this information and communication technology have become the center of life. In other words, through the sharing of vast amounts of information using information and communication technology, the realm of our lives has expanded from reality to virtual space. Because this information age is connected to all areas, such as education, health care, business, etc., we have been able to do things quickly with less time, and it has helped our lives more conveniently. However, as the information age rapidly enters society, we have increased our dependence on information, and there are disadvantages that come with it. Some of which are privacy violations, online crime problems, misinformation, etc. (Tucci, 2014).

What information do we get from the Internet?

We can easily get a large amount of information from various fields by using the Internet. If there is any information we want to find, we search and analyze the Internet to find information. If medical information is required, it may be obtained by searching for symptoms of the disease. And through information related to education, we can gain various kinds of knowledge and find answers to questions. It also uses social networking to interact with others and obtain the necessary information through information exchange.

Is all the information on the Internet true?

As the information age progresses, we can acquire various information and a large amount of information. However, much of this information includes information that is not true. This is because it provides information that is not true by writing provocative articles or other writings to get people’s attention. In addition, if a non-professional person provides information, the information is not true because there is a high possibility of errors in the information. That is why we must be cautious in determining the author’s identity in order to determine the trustworthiness of information and in using accurate information such as academic papers in order to obtain the correct information (Sysoeva, 2020).

What are the possible problems caused by incorrect Internet information?

Information that is not true and stimulating spreads quickly and widely, so it delivers false information to many people. In particular, providing fake information in official situations, such as news, will cause people to be confused politically and socially and will cause them to lose confidence in the news (Graham, 2019). In addition, you should be careful because obtaining incorrect medical information can be harmful to our health.

Conclusion

With the development of science and technology, we entered the Information Age, and our lives became more convenient as a large amount of information was easily accessible. In particular, as we quickly find the information we want in areas such as education and medical care, our dependence on Internet information has increased. However, since all the information that exists on the Internet is likely to be untrue, we should be careful to obtain accurate information.
