Finding a job that matches graduates’ skills can be a daunting challenge for new graduates. Cloud Nine College (CNC) ensures that students can successfully transition from academe to the intensive labor market by extending student placement services. CNC currently incorporates a Co-operative (Co-op) Education Program for students enrolled in the following programs: Professional Sales Coop Certificate, Hotel and Restaurant Management Certificate, Hotel and Restaurant Management Diploma, and International Busines and Trade Management Diploma. The course work requires students to undergo intensive academic training before proceeding to their co-op program.
On February 22, 2022, Erika Kim, CNC’s Co-op Program Manager, held one-day counseling seminars for students, which included an interview process that simulated the real-world job application with a potential employer. As students go through counseling, their skills and preferences are matched with potential employers in their field of discipline. Following the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) mandate, one may apply for a co-op intern work permit if they hold a valid study permit and are enrolled in a designated learning institution offering the said program.
CNC offers a vast array of industry partners where students can apply, get hired, and put in their knowledge and skills gained from their rigorous academic training, in a professional work environment. Apart from practical work experience, students can develop business ethics and establish essential life skills. Further, the co-op programs incorporate hands-on paid work experience while they earn a certificate or a diploma.
