Concordia TESOL Introductory video from Prof. Leyla

-Introduction

Welcome to Concordia TESOL – master’s degrees in the UK.

I am professor Leyla; I have had more than 20 years of teaching career under my belt. I have been teaching English, business English, medical English, TESOL, and many more. I did my master’s in Vancouver, Canada, at the University of British Colombia in TEFL(Teaching English as a Foreign Language).

Education, teaching English, and education in general, is one of the world’s most vital sectors. Even when there is a pandemic, people have to learn. So you are on an excellent pathway with us.

– What is TESOL?

TESOL is teaching English to speakers of other languages. It is essential because it is required for teaching jobs abroad if you are a non-native speaker and help English learners efficiently and professionally. That use as an opportunity.

Before going in to the curriculum, do you think you can teach your mother tongue? Probably not. Because even if you speak your language, teaching should be learned. That is what exactly we are doing here with our curriculum. Being a native speaker of a language does not make you a teacher; you have to learn.

-Concordia TESOL Curriculum

Here in our Concordia TESOL center, we have three different online courses for TESOL. 120 hours course, general TESOL with 10 modules, 180 hours, TESOL and TEC(Tesol for Children) 15 modules and 240 hours for TESOL linked to the University of Chichester MA in Education (credit recognition in Concordia Postgraduate Diploma course) with 19 modules.

What does it mean? What you are studying in Concordia after TESOL, the postgraduate program we have will be considered one year of master studies already. So you are going to top up, and you are going to do the next year in the UK university.

-Teaching methods

We have video classes, quizzes, assignments for evaluations. You will have to learn by watching the lectures. But you are not alone because all of the professors from Concordia International University are behind you with our power and expertise, you will never be left alone. However, you are watching and learning it alone.

-Concordia Blended-Program

The blended program is defined as a combination of 90% online and 10% off-line education. The courses are fully processing online, but we support off-line learnings for students’ effective learning.

-TESOL-UK University MA course

First, you have to take a TESOL course with 10 modules, all in different modules. After finishing the TESOL course, you will be going to the Concordia Postgraduate Diploma program, a part of your master studies, for later to top-up in a UK university. There are 4 mandatory units, and you might choose 4 modules from 6 optional units. Again, this is also a self-study program, and you will never be left alone, though, when you have thousands of questions, you will get thousands of answers, but you do your research online. There are no lectures there, you do your research, but we teach you how to research anyway, so don’t worry. When you finish that, you will be in the UK university where we are connected to. Then you will be at MA in Education Management and Leadership having the dissertation with your teaching assistants. You will be preparing yourself for works for a beautiful future.

I’m not going to call you as a student, maybe colleagues. So welcome to your future dear colleagues! I hope to see you there. Thank you for watching; bright futures for all of you.
