“We must find creativity in everyday life, not special creativity”

Kim Eui-seung, 1st Deputy Mayor for Administration of Seoul City, visited the workplace of public servants and listened to their voices, and gave a lecture to explain Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon’s ‘Together Attractive, Creative Administration Strategy’ in his term.

Deputy Mayor Kim attended the ‘Inauguration Ceremony of the 8th Health and Environment Research Institute Branch of the Seoul Public Employees’ Union’ held at 4 p.m. on Nov. 10 at the Seoul Institute of Health and Environment Research in Yangjae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, and delivered a special lecture on ‘Creative Administration with the Union’ to union officials and members.

In this regard, Park Sang-chul, chairman of the Seoul City Public Employees’ Union, said that it was “the first time in the union’s 20-year history” that the first vice mayor of the administration came to a local union branch to give a special lecture.

“In order for Seoul to enter the top five cities in the world in globalization, we need to make public service easier and more satisfying in everyday life, not through special creativity,” Kim said in his lecture.

“To do this, we need wisdom that labor and management can solve together,” he said, emphasizing that public servants should take pride in creating a special city with an attractive ‘accompaniment charm’ that fosters expertise and accompanies the weak beyond the IT powerhouse in a rapidly changing era.”

As a strategy for accompaniment and charm creative administration in 2023, he suggested ▲ reviewing citizen inconveniences that have been overlooked in the past ▲ definitively abolishing unnecessary tasks ▲ establishing a system where anyone can easily generate and develop ideas at any time ▲ improving managerial leadership to activate communication and learning culture within the organization ▲ and implementing a direct, immediate, and sufficient creative administration reward system.

First Deputy Mayor Kim gave a lecture on global innovation, the role of labor and management, and the role of the new M-Generation, and emphasized Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon’s goal of making the capital the best city in the world.

“The lecture was a great one with a high level of satisfaction as a public servant in the field,” said Shin Yong-soo, a former chairperson of the Seoul City Public Employees’ Union. “I am grateful as one of those who listened to the lecture for visiting the frontline offices and listening to the voices of the frontline and communicating with them while being busy as an administrative mayor.”

The lecture was attended by Shin Yong-seung, head of the Health and Environment Research Institute, Shin Yong-soo, chairman of the Seoul Local Government Employees’ Union Federation, Park Sang-cheol, chairman of the Seoul City Public Employees’ Union, Choi Bu-cheol, head of the Health and Environment Research Institute branch, and other relevant union executives and members.

On May 31, Kim also delivered a special lecture on ‘Creative Management with Unions’ at the ‘Joint Labor-Management Training for the First Half of 2023′ hosted by the Seoul City Public Employees’ Union at Seocheon Training Center in Seoul.
