Every holiday season, Starbucks brings us together with its highly anticipated and well-loved “Starbucks Traditions” collection. This year, however, there is more than just the collections to celebrate, as Starbucks Philippines celebrates its 25th year of filling our days with more than just coffee.
The brand shared a series of videos online based on real-life anecdotes. Each persona represents the communities that Starbucks Philippines has built over time, where featured customers and partners share how the brand has and continues to fill their days.
Starbucks Philippines also announced that it would open more stores and provide more services, such as giving customers the option to customize sweetness levels and offering plant-based food products, as part of its plan to heighten its local presence as the business recovers from the pandemic.
The nationwide expansion means opening an average of 45 new Starbucks stores annually.
Company president and chief executive Noey Lopez revealed that a sizeable number of those new stores, possibly half of the yearly target, would be drive-thru branches, which gained popularity during the pandemic lockdown when contagion fears prompted consumers to avoid dining in.
This popular coffeehouse currently has 424 stores nationwide after opening its first store in the country at 6750 Building in Makati City in December 1997.
Starbucks Philippines also showcases sustainability and digital innovation. These are part of Starbucks’ comprehensive commitment to reduce its carbon footprint and waste by half by 2030.
Last March, Starbucks Philippines launched its FoodShare food donation program in partnership with the following entities:
- The Philippine Food Bank Foundation
- GrabFood Philippines
Starting with 40 stores in Metro Manila, the program can book Grab drivers to pick up and deliver food donations to the non-profit organization. The food bank will then distribute it to select beneficiaries within the region.
So far, the program has served over 100,000 meals from more than 200 stores.
