On March 22, the 2022 list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants was unveiled together with 51st to 100th ranked Asian restaurants, and three restaurants from the Philippines made it to the list. The 51 to 100 list includes restaurants from 12 countries and territories.
The three Philippine restaurants that made it to the prestigious rosters were Toyo Eatery in Makati City, Antonio’s in Tagaytay City, and Gallery by Chele in Taguig City, ranking 94th, 74th, and 69th places, respectively. Last year, Gallery by Chelle and Antonio’s placed 90th and 84th,respectively. This is the fourth year Toyo Eatery has been recognized by Asia’s 50 best.
These three restaurants have expressed through their social media accounts how grateful they are to be included on the prestigious list and dedicate their latest recognition to their whole team, from the kitchen to the service all the way to the back office, for all the hard work and most especially to their patrons.
Greater China dominated the restaurant scene in the region. Hong Kong claimed ten places and six of which were new entries. Six restaurants from mainland China are also present on the list. Taiwan scores five restaurants and three counts from Macau.
William Drew, the Director of content at Asia’s 50 Best Restaurant, said it seeks to support restaurants of all types and all levels across Asia and the world, and by announcing the best restaurants, they hope that they can showcase more of the region’s diverse restaurants, cuisines, and unique dining experience and help the chefs and restaurateurs promote their establishments.
Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy has voted this new roster, an influential group of over 300 leaders of food writers and critics, chefs, restaurateurs, and regional culinary experts, with a 50/50 gender balance.
