Do our bodies tell us which season we are in?

Introduction

Sometimes, we can hear people around us say, “I get sentimental in autumn.” What does this mean? Also, why did those expressions appear? One more thing, do these expressions exist only in autumn? Then, why do they express this only in certain seasons? All of this can be described as biometeorology. It’s a little unfamiliar, but people often go through it.

Seasons by country

Many people fantasize about going to European countries, but some are not ecstatic about going to or being in the United Kingdom and Germany. The main reason is the weather. The UK and Germany are two of the countries with relatively obvious four seasons. However, Europe is colder because it is located higher than Asia in terms of latitude. In addition, because the UK is an island country, it is quite rainy rather than snowy in winter. Some suppositions have arisen for these reasons. A typical one is that the UK and Germany have many people suffering from depression due to the weather.

The weather in England is generally cold and humid. Therefore, if tourists want to travel to England, most travel agencies recommend they do it in summer, not winter, as it is pretty foggy in England in winter. Also, there is little sunlight in England because of the clouds. Moreover, as mentioned, the UK is an island country, so it experiences rains often because of the large amount of precipitation. In addition, since winter usually lasts long from November to March, travelers should check the season well. Most tourists who did not check up the season think that they did not have a good experience. This may make them remember Britain as depressed and lonesome. If we look at the reviews of many travelers, you can often find articles saying that they are depressed.

The weather in Germany is also similar to that of the UK. One difference is that it is colder in Germany; in winter, the temperature there falls below zero, and the likelihood of snowing there is high. Winter in Germany is from December to February, and the weather in Germany is very volatile and difficult to predict. For instance, in 2020, people in Germany spent a very dark winter with COVID-19 and suffered from considerable depression. As the sun did not rise, fatigue accumulated, and the tension went up, resulting in poor work efficiency. In addition, people drank alone at home and gradually lost their motivation. All of these cannot be attributed to the weather, but it shows that climate changes people’s emotions. The fact is that when people don’t see sunshine for a long time, their vitamin D intake will drop and fatigue will accumulate.

Effects of mood or emotion on the body’s condition

Vitamin D deficiency results in mood changes, such as tiredness, muscle or bone weakness, and depression. We can take vitamin D supplements to compensate for the lack of exposure to sunlight, but there is a precaution: Vitamin D should be taken in the exact prescribed amount when done through pharmaceuticals. Violation of this can lead to various diseases. Therefore, vitamin D intake through sunlight or food is more recommended. Eventually, if fatigue and depression persist for a long time, it can harm your health. These make humans lethargic and have negative thoughts.

People’s thoughts and feelings play a tremendous role in physical health. For example, it is laborious to try a new challenge with low self-esteem. After all, the negative idea of failure precedes it. Also, lethargy breaks down the body’s hormonal balance and even causes chronic stress. What’s important is, chronic stress shortens life and depletes brain chemicals needed for happiness. Thus, efforts should be made to overcome it quickly, and avoiding falling into this dilemma should always be kept in mind.

Changes in physical conditions according to the seasons

Our body generally changes its biorhythm according to two patterns. One is spring and summer with long days and short nights. The other is fall and winter with short days and long nights. In particular, autumn affects the body substantially because it is when the sunlight begins to disappear. When this happens, the body gets confused because ultraviolet absorption decreases in autumn and winter. That’s why our body requires more sleep to recover its body rhythm quickly. Eventually, the more we look at the sun, the faster our biorhythm recovery becomes. During these times, people should go for a walk often and have enough nap time. We need to invest time to get our bodies back to normal, and this effort can improve our energy levels.

Additionally, the human changes into a state of insulin resistance as it gets colder. It is a condition in which we can work for a long time even after eating only a small amount of food. Our body controls metabolism on its own, and in winter, fat-burning activities are maximized. For instance, people can do intense exercises even after eating a little fruit and burn enough calories to overcome the cold. However, it’s not positive for dieting. To prevent diseases during this period, you should frequently eat fruits containing vitamins and provide energy to the body with warm tea and other foods.

Conclusion

It turns out that people saying they are emotional in the fall or any season proves that people’s moods or emotions change depending on the weather or climate. Furthermore, changing conditions can affect health directly and may cause serious health problems. So, people should take care of their physical condition carefully in autumn or winter. Also, doing various activities is a great way to prevent seasonal depression and overcome lethargy.
