Concordia International APEC Korea conducted a seminar on its Aviation Program on August 11, 2020. With the goal of making aviation programs available for all those who want it, Concordia International University (CIU) supports study-abroad programs with scholarships in the U.S. for students who might be interested in taking up aviation major in one of the prestigious state universities in the United States, the Western Michigan University (WMU). The United States currently ranks no.1 in study abroad programs and foreign exchange students, and without much cost burden, students can choose the right state universities for them to take their Aviation major in.
You may ask: Why aviation? Currently, being a commercial pilot is listed as one of the top ten most well-paid jobs, and Concordia International University is offering scholarships for students interested in studying the program. The benefits of transferring to WMU include an affordable in-state tuition fee, language training in Korea (Gangnam), and a chance to apply for flight instructor upon graduation.
CIU is selecting a number of students interested in the aviation program for scholarships. Students selected for scholarships will be spending a semester undergoing the following procedures: intensive English learning program and study of accredited courses and ground courses. Upon completion, the students will transfer to WMU as sophomores to pursue their degree in Aviation Flight Science. Graduates will, upon completion of the four-year university program, not only have the necessary English skill but also have obtained a Private Pilot Licensing (PPL) and Commercial Pilot Licensing (CPL) from the Federal Aviation Administration. Not only that, but they will also have accumulated enough flight time (250+ hrs) under their belt to be able to apply for professional commercial air pilot positions with many airline companies.
About Western Michigan University
Western Michigan University’s aviation program has been hailed as the country’s top 3 and has been producing some of America’s best pilots for the past 80 years. Despite being a highly reputational university that has been around for more than 115 years, the professors-to-students ratio is kept at 17:1. This means that the quality of their education is guaranteed to be excellent, as this would allow for close interaction and cooperation from both the students and the professors. The biggest perk about WMU is the fact that since Fall 2017, they have been permitted by the State of Michigan to cut down on tuition fees for everyone, including international students, making WMU the most affordable university in the State of Michigan. The university also boasts of its high employment rate, with 92% of graduates being able to get a job within three months of their graduation.
