Introduction
Advances in technology play a major role in improving national competitiveness. However, there are pros and cons everywhere. I will identify the problem by comparing the past and modern societies that have been completely transformed by rapid technological development. We will find out how important it is to maintain and continue a country’s traditions, and explore the most appropriate way to do so.
The emergence of modern society
If you ask somebody to imagine a modern person, they are very likely to describe a person using a smartphone. Simply put, smartphones are a necessity in modern society. We can not only communicate with each other but also take pictures, do bank transactions, and read books through smartphones. Furthermore, we can make money only with our phones. Therefore, many people say losing a smartphone is worse than losing a wallet. Many jobs have been lost and acquired due to the development of these technologies. For example, the development of automation systems is reducing cashiers’ jobs. In addition, contactless transaction trends during the coronavirus period have sped up. Many jobs will be lost in the future, which will further worsen the global job market, experts say.
The pace of modern technology development
In the 21st century, we have made countless advances in technology. About a decade ago, smartphones did not exist, and they were just imaginary products such as smart watches and smart weighing machines. Aside from that, computers were also developed about 40 years ago, and now, most people have personal computers. Various services and innovative uses are currently being developed through the use of computers and smartphones.
The most innovative business in modern society is the e-commerce platform. E-commerce is the buying and selling of goods or services on the Internet. This includes mobile shopping and online payment encryption, as well as a variety of data, systems, and tools for online buyers and sellers. Since the birth of e-commerce, changes in our lives, especially the way we work, have been most noticeable.
Young people jump into the more accessible e-commerce platform business to make money. Their quick challenges are good, but occasionally, young people come to think of business as easy. Also, similar problems arise for students, which lead to some deficiencies in their ability to solve problems independently.
The need to maintain traditions and the methods needed to do so
With the development of modern technology, major parts of life have changed very quickly, and there are more and more problems that older people and sometimes younger people cannot solve on their own. In other words, there are people wandering around, unable to keep up with technological advances. In addition, the differences between generations are very distinct and rapidly dividing.
As the differences between generations become clear, it becomes difficult to form a social network. For example, a new employee who just joined a company is always dissatisfied with the direction of the team leader who is not flexible. This reduces work efficiency, and if it becomes more serious, compromises or conversations with others can be interrupted. The team leader, who has not earned the respect of new employees, is forced to become lethargic or to bully new employees. This form further intensifies generational conflict and divides the nation. Society will become more and more divided, complex, and chaotic.
We need to create an environment and society where everyone can harmonize by reducing generational differences. Old people should try not to alienate themselves in modern society. On the other hand, young people should try not to isolate themselves. There is a mentoring program as a way to solve this problem. An experienced and knowledgeable person acts as a teacher to improve the skills and potential of the subject with guidance and advice, and the person who acts as a teacher is called the ”mentor,” the person who receives guidance or advice is called the “mentee.”
Conclusion
Being adept at and adaptable to change is, of course, important, but losing one’s original temper can destroy order. The advent of new technology or modern technology makes the past and tradition disappear. We need to prevent this and properly mix modern and traditional technologies for better culture and technology development. At the end of the day, it is people who shape culture and develop technology, so the harmony between young and old people is important in society and should come first.
