AI Manufacturing and K-Beauty

South Korea is the top ten cosmetics markets in the world. The global market is increasingly finding innovative products from South Korea which shows product quality, packaging, sensory appeal and reasonable prices.

Mr. Jang, Senior Cosmetics Analyst said: “Western brands are constantly looking to South Korea for their next inspiration, seeking to adapt popular South Korean beauty formats for Western consumers.” Furthermore, because global consumers are looking for vegan and clean products, Korean cosmetic firms have consistently released optimal products, tried to meet market requests. Nowadays, the Korean cosmetic industry is ready for another innovation – AI manufacturing.

How dose AI (Artificial intelligence algorithms) affect the cosmetic industry?

With the combination of computer vision, AI algorithms can analyze comments, reviews, and feedback posted by customers on websites, social media, and other online platforms. Computer vision can also be used to analyze feedback given in the form of physical documents such as questionnaires and feedback forms that are handed out to customers at retail outlets. Businesses can analyze the data to create products that customers will be most likely to buy. For instance, Avon developed a mascara using their Genius algorithm that read, analyzed, and organized user comments and suggestions.

Korean cosmetic manufacturer “Ecis Cosmetic” adopted ‘Smart Compressor’ based on ‘Metatron Grand View Tech for the first time as a cosmetics manufacturer. Grand View’ is a solution that collects and analyzes various data such as air pressure, oil pressure, and temperature through IoT terminals attached to smart compressors in the factory, and helps efficient facility operation by predicting the current state of the facility in real-time and when maintenance is required.

Ecis Cosmetics announced that it could extend the life span of major facilities and parts by more than 20% through artificial intelligence (AI) based ‘Prediction Preservation (Prediction, Maintenance, and Maintenance’ function, and expect highly efficient effects such as improving manufacturing productivity and reducing costs by an average of 15%.

Since the adoption of the new Tech, Ecis Cosmetics has established an automated smart factory and introduced a one-stop production line for all processes such as manufacturing, production, packaging, and inspection. And It expects to establish a more optimized production system with the introduction of smart compressors using ICT (Information Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure. In particular, it added that it has a real-time monitoring and analysis system that complements the limitations of existing facility management, so that it can produce safer products by predicting and checking facility failures in advance.

“K-beauty and Ecis cosmetic” are trying to lead the advancement of innovation in cosmetic manufacturing and present high-level industry-standard models in the future.
