On July 25th, 2019, Concordia APEC conducted its second training on its aviation program. With the rise of the aviation industry, demands for pilots, co-pilots, engineers, and cabin managers have dramatically increased internationally. Korea is facing shortages in pilots and co-pilots in the airline industry, which has provided many opportunities for young college students to apply for aviation majors in universities. However, without a proper strategy, many students can end up as licensed but unemployed pilots.
Concordia offers a holistic plan for aspiring young students who wish to be in the aviation industry. The training session conducted on that day gave a thorough understanding of how the hiring system of the airline industry works in Korea, and provided proper measurement by planning the steps “backward.”

About Concordia Aviation Program
Concordia International University offers its aviation program, where students can transfer to Western Michigan University for their sophomore year with an academic scholarship. During the four-year program, students learn the foundation of aviation and acquire the necessary flight hours and licenses to be commercial plane pilots: private pilot license, commercial pilot license, instrumental rating, and 250 flight hours.
Upon their graduation, most students are guided by Concordia to register to become flight instructors, allowing them to stay over time in the States and build up their flight hours without charges. With the flight instructor profession registered in their resumes, they are brought home to Korea for profile training in order to pass the arduous hiring sessions of major airline corporations.
