With the continuous downtrend of the COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) had approved the amendments to the guidelines on the nationwide implementation of the Alert Level System for Covid-19 response before February ended, placing the National Capital Region and 38 other areas under Alert Level 1. This is the most relaxed alert level. The public can expect looser restrictions, but the minimum public health standards remain in place, including wearing face masks and physical distancing.
Under this Alert Level, there are no restrictions in terms of indoor and outdoor capacities, and all the establishments or activities are now allowed to operate at full capacity.
Meanwhile, there is a resumption of limited face-to-face classes, but the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) said that they would continue the flexible learning arrangement at universities and in colleges as aligned in the policy of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), which is to limit the physical interaction of students and faculty in school premises. Therefore, universities have different options for the delivery modes they will use. On the other hand, face-to-face classes for primary education shall be subject to prior approval of the Office of the President.
As of this March, according to DepEd, there is a total of 1,726 schools that have started their limited face-to-face classes, and several students expressed their enthusiasm and excitement for the opening of the limited face-to-face classes while there were some who were still feeling anxious about going to school physically despite being fully vaccinated.
