According to Commission on Higher Education (CHED), 87% of faculty members of higher education institutions (HEIs) and 59.7% of tertiary students have been vaccinated against COVID-19. It added that among the regions that posted the highest vaccination rate of HEI personnel, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) had the highest percentage with 95.4 percent.
“The Commission is happy to report that in many regions of the country, the vaccination rate of our education frontliners have reached herd immunity levels ensuring not only their availability to join face-to-face classes but more importantly, they are helping protect their families and communities from the rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus,” CHED Chairperson Prospero De Vera said in a statement on December 30, 2021.

CHED Chairperson Prospero De Vera said that CHED regional offices, HEIs, and their partner local government units will expand their efforts to help education stakeholders get booster shots in the first quarter of 2022 to facilitate the expansion of face-to-face classes and help combat COVID-19 variants.
