The world needs good managers at every level, whether managing day-to-day business operations or in the headquarters of businesses, government or charities.

Whether you plan to start your own business or take the reins of an existing one, you’ll need to be well equipped with a number of skills. We make sure that you develop as a person, gaining new abilities in strategic thinking, problem solving and communication.

Our BA (Hons) Business Management (top-up) degree programme allows you to top up your current qualification, such as a foundation-level degree or HND, to a full degree. It is the equivalent of the final year of an undergraduate degree, and offers a chance to deepen your knowledge, skills and understanding of your subject, while also getting an internationally recognised qualification.

This Business Management course has been designed by our team of academics, who have experience of working as managers in a variety of industry sectors. This degree takes into account what employers and industry experts expect from new management recruits.

This degree programme blends both academic study and skills development to give you the best start after graduation. The course builds on contemporary management skills and approaches, to help you secure your first management job.

* Course Details

The course aims to develop an individual’s entrepreneurial capabilities. During the course you will have the opportunity to develop and launch business ideas, as well as the opportunity to undertake a work experience.

Students on this course are also able to engage in work related discussions through online forums. This provides the perfect environment to engage with and network with students from a broad range of business subjects. You’ll also have access to the full university facilities for work, study and socialising. This allows you to experience the professional structures you will be a part of in the workplace.

Delivered through lectures and tutorials, each of the modules you study will focus on empowering you to think critically and learn how to analyse and evaluate solutions to complex, real-life problems.

Learning, Teaching and Assessment Methods to achieve the Programme

Students study four modules which carry 30 credits each: Strategic marketing, Managing Innovation in Business, Leading and Managing Change and Corporate Strategy and Governance. The corporate strategy and Governance module incorporates research element in satisfying the honours degree requirement hence students will be required to write a 6,000 word report incorporating various research skills they will learn in the module. The Corporate Strategy and Governance module is also a requirement for the award of an Honours degree.

Throughout the award the objectives are to develop the knowledge, skills and analytical ability of students to enable them to develop successful careers in business organisations. This objective is met by a combination of self-study, directed research and investigation, tutor support and Blackboard materials. The assessment tasks will be individual assignments incorporating case study analysis, and project work in a combination designed to assess and meet the stated aims and the required learning outcomes. There will be opportunity for formative assessment through discussions with tutors at specific times to review progress of work to date as well as general feedback on the online forums.
